What is Professional Supervision?

Supervision is an inquiry into practice. It is a compassionate appreciative inquiry where we re-write our stories related to practice and experiences. A safe space to share the wins and hard aspects of your work, be accepted and also challenged in a respectful professional external relationship. It is NOT line management, performance management or counselling. It may incorporate mentoring and coaching where reflexive practice and critical reflection on and in action is essential for transformational growth.

Why have Professional Supervision?

More leaders, professionals, businesses, organisations and those in ministry are more likely to be working with highly complex or vulnerable employees, clients, customers, community members, volunteers and situations. They are exposed to more incidences of stress and distress either physically or emotionally. Professional Reflexive Supervision can be considered a professional development and employee assistance strategy that has been proven to contribute to improved skills, knowledge and practice whilst also facilitating staff wellbeing and confidence.

How does it work?

Professional Supervision is a time to meet with Michelle individually or in small groups of a maximum of 6-8 supervisees every 4 – 8 weeks. We agree to meet for 6 – 12 months at a time with individual sessions being for 1 hour and group sessions for 2 hours. Sessions are face to face within the Shoalhaven, South Coast NSW and can be arranged at other locations on request. Zoom sessions are available across Australia. You set the agenda in an agreed safe, confidential, regular professional space.
